It's hard to put into words what I'm feeling after my first EmpowHER conference. At one point, I was sitting in the room listening to one of the speakers and I caught myself looking at everyone. Women were writing notes in their workbooks and chatting with one another and connecting and growing right alongside one another. The speaker was delivering a powerful message and heads were nodding along in agreement and support. And I felt overwhelmed with gratitude.
It was exactly what I imagined it would be. And so much more.
I've been reflecting on the conference for the past couple of weeks, and almost every day I'll get a message from someone asking "How did your event go?" My answer is always "It was amazing. I have to plan another one."
And I am. More details on that to come later!
The speaker line-up was unforgettable!
Tiffany helped us take back control of our hamster wheel! With her background in psychotherapy we learned tools to cope with every-day anxieties and intrusive thoughts.
Jade reminded us all how important it is to have fun. Real fun! Not just having fun in our daily tasks and duties, but really carving out time for intentional fun. It gets more important the older we get.
Wendy poured her heart out on the subject of vulnerability. Something we can all stand to learn about and practice if we truly want to connect with others and build relationships within our communities.
Theresa got us all up and moving! Her story of perseverance through a true storm inspired all of us to focus on our health. We learned basic exercises to take with us, and left with confidence to live WELL.
Fay was all about upgrading our lives. She reminded us that we are in control of our reactions to what life throws at us. Upgrade your thoughts so that you can enjoy all the goodness this life has to offer!
Olivia gave all of us permission to say NO to things that don't serve us and start saying YES to things that bring us joy. Because "No" is a full freaking sentence!
Adri kept our whole day on track and was the friend that everyone needed that day. She helped start conversations and foster new relationships, and of course hyped up the whole group all day long!
Those teeny, tiny recaps don't do one bit of justice to the women who delivered their powerful messages this day. There's no way I could ever capture the experience had in one blog post. You'll just have to come next year and see for yourself!
My goal for EmpowHER is simple: to create a space for others to grow and connect.
This event is for you if:
You are looking for friendship, a place of belonging.
You're struggling.
Your life is perfect!
Your life is not perfect.
You work full time or part time.
You are home full time.
You're a mom.
You need a reason to get together with friends.
You're wanting to get involved in something.
You are YOU!
To everyone who helped me - THANK YOU. I couldn't have done this without you.
XO, Courtney
