At some point, we've probably all heard that if you were to quit your job then your position would get filled rather quickly. You would be replaced out of necessity. And that's just a fact. So why do we wrap so much of our identity up into our day jobs?
For a lot of us, we're told to go to a university or a trade school and get a job in our field. Once you do that, it's "happily ever after," right? Sure, if anyone ever told us what to do after that! We're groomed in high school to pick our passion and get the education needed to find a job, and then... And then we're just supposed to do that one thing until someone else's expectations tell us it's time to retire? I'm not buying it. In fact, there's entire generations who aren't buying that idea a
nymore. And I'm here for it!
So, what are we being called to do?
I believe that we are not always meant to follow a singular path our whole lives. That doesn't mean you have to get a new job every 5
, 10, or 15 years. But definitely don't feel like you are stuck in one job, one identity, forever.
God does not want us to be miserable. God is calling us to serve Him in the ways He has equipped us to handle it. But nowhere does He say, "You must be unhappy while you serve me." No! We can serve God and do what brings us joy. If you're miserable where you're at, call out to God and ask Him where you are meant to be.
